Dr. Leanne Shapiro is a licensed psychologist with extensive experience providing treatment to children, adolescents, families, and young adults. In addition to treating anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, behavioral disorders, bereavement, and other psychological difficulties, Dr. Shapiro has specialized training working with individuals who have chronic and terminal medical conditions.
Dr. Shapiro also has experience conducting psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluations. As part of her service to the community, Dr. Shapiro works closely with schools in the Miami area, where she has been sought for consultation and has given presentations to students, families, and staff. Throughout her training, Dr. Leanne Shapiro has worked extensively with pediatric populations both in the United States and abroad and has focused her research in various areas of pediatric health psychology and mindfulness-based interventions. Dr. Shapiro is actively involved with the South Florida community where she has been able to further these passions. As such, she is on staff at Baptist Hospital and also runs a charity foundation to help children and families going through cancer treatment. Additionally, Dr. Shapiro serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the Health Information Project (HIP).
Dr. Shapiro completed her doctoral education at Nova Southeastern University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Miami Children’s Hospital in Pediatric Health and subsequently completed her post-doctoral training through Emory University School of Medicine where she provided services in the hematology/oncology department at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Prior to commencing her doctoral program in clinical psychology, Dr. Shapiro earned a master’s degree from New York University in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and worked in various human resources roles.
Additionally, she served as an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University, where she taught classes and provided supervision to doctoral level students.
Dr. Shapiro is licensed in Florida and Colorado and provides in-person and telehealth sessions in both the Boulder and Miami offices.
Dr. Shapiro is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Florida Psychological Association, and the Colorado Psychological Association.
